Actually, despite the illegal placement of yard signs by Frank Brown and Ted Jackson's teams (which as I understand it, they will be in court to answer to in the near future), I believe Patrick Labat is the most qualified candidate and the best man for the job. After all, if they can't control their field teams, how will they control the Sheriff's Office. As for Aubrey Osteen, while he is a super nice guy (as many have often said about Myron Freeman), he doesn't quite have what it takes to lead the Sheriff's Office - not to mention the Republican-turned-Democrat act he's taken up. (Yes, he ran for Sheriff as a Republican in past elections). Patrick is the only leading, credible candidate who is NOT retired (which in this economy, I guess we can't blame Ted & Frank -- and even Rambo for giving it a shot...but even Michael Jordan knew when to stay retired). Patrick is well-versed and well-trained in jail management, law enforcement and corrections administration. He offers current, relevant leadership and won't just be another "business as usual" figure in the Sheriff's Office. Check him out www.labat2008.com.

Ted Jackson has the trust of the men and women of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. He has already done a great job in the position when the State asked him to take over for six months. They did that for a reason, he is the right man. With 32 years of experience in the FBI, and the wisdom of how to talk to people; no other candidate already has to proven record of success. He is a kind and intelligent man and will make working in the Sheriffs office a joy. And that is what this county deserves.

To the person that posted that Ted Jackson did a great job when he was interim sheriff for six month. Explain to us all what he did in those six months, BillBruce. And I must say, he does not have the trust of all of the men and women of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

My name is Curtis Steven "JD" Farmer; I am a Sergeant Deputy Sheriff, with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. I have 20 years of experience with the Sheriff's Office. I'm called "JD" which is short for Jail Deputy.

It is my opinion that anyone campaigning to become SHERIFF of any Georgia, County should put the citizens first, after all we are asking for your vote to protect and serve you the citizens of the county. My, advice to you and your reader is to know your candidate agenda / platform. What are they going to do about Fulton County's growing crime rate, with no jail space, why are criminal that the local city police continuing to arrest are the same criminal back out on the street victimizing citizens . The Sheriff is the only law enforcement official that can successfully address this issue.

My goal as your Sheriff is to make justice a reality here in Fulton County. The Sheriff of Fulton County has to hold the judicial system of Fulton County accountable for the murders, aggravated assaults, burglaries (smash and grabs) and robberies of citizens and business owners. Remember justice delayed is justice denied.

As your Sheriff I will implement a Bond Violation Ordinance program. This bond ordinance will hold the Fulton County judicial system accountable and the recurring criminal(s) accountable for their legal actions. The Sheriff must put a stop to criminal returning to our communities with signature bonds and regular bonds. My bond violation program will hold criminals out on bond in jail, if they continue to victimize the citizens of Fulton County. United States VS. Salerno states that this would not be a violation of a person due-process. This process is called preventive detention. No, individual should be out on bond for more than one felony arrest at any given time.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has to have a larger facility.

Fort McPherson Military Army Base will close in 2011. Fort McPherson Military Army Base closing, can benefit the entire county by becoming the new Fulton County’s thirty thousand bed space jail facility; at no purchasing cost to you the tax paying citizen of Fulton County.

The current Fort McPherson employees can remain on staff along with the recent lay off East Point, Fire Fighter. They can continue to protect and serve the citizens of Fulton County by become employee of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The additional salaries for the Sheriff’s Office employees will come from misdemeanors cases that are adjudicated in Fulton County’s State Court.

On July 15, 2008, I need your vote to make justice a reality, here in Fulton County.

Thank you, again justice delayed is justice denied.

Creative loafing and the other media outlets should never endorse a candidate, you should post each candidate agenda and let the reader cast their own vote. The media projects the winner which influences the voters vote.

The media elected George W. Bush, with the help of Florida. The media elected Sheriff M. Freeman and other politician.

I encourage you and the voter of Fulton County to come out and ask question about your candidate, they can be personal question. Question of any type, question like who will run the day to day operation of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. Please, do your home work? Look at your candidate campaign contribution disclosure report and see who they owe and you will see who will be running your Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

Curtis Steven "JD" Farmer: You are an idiot. Let's park yet another problem down in southwest atlanta so it really has no chance of revival. It is public planning by people like you that continue to destroy quality of life in atlanta. No rhyme or reason or thought into what you do. No fear of consequence or responsibility to community. Do you really think that a predominantly residential area like Fort Mcpherson / Sylvan Hills / Campbellton Rd / Oakland City / Capitol View / Perkerson Park is a good location for a correctional facility of any kind? Get you head out of your ass and stop pandering for votes. I know I won't vote for you.

To Superman:

Ted Jackson has more supporters among the men and women of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office than any other candidate running for Sheriff of Fulton County. As a matter of fact, Mr. Jackson was called upon to run for this office by many of the men and women of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. During his very short term as interim sheriff, Mr. Jackson boosted the morale within the department, he established excellent working relationships with judges and with other county departments. He provided immediate solutions to issues and problems not only in the department but in the community we serve. He MADE DECISIONS unlike our current so called leader. He respected and appreciated the hard work performed by the men and women in the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. In my opinion and in the opinion of many of the men and women in the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, he made a hugh difference. in the short time he lead the department. He deserves a chance to finish the job he started. Besides, it's not about what he has done...it's about what he will do when he is elected Sheriff of Fulton County. He will make the men and women of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office and the community we serve...proud!

The first part of your posted name serves you well chicken…clueless...
Compare Atlanta, crime rate to any other metropolitan’s cities crime rates within Fulton County and you decide where, the much needed Fulton County jail facility should be built.

North Fulton County doesn’t need a large jail, look at there crime statistics.

South Fulton County crimes are on the rise, but there crime statistics are not as high as metro Atlanta.

Chicken clueless, being that you with held your real identity, Fulton County is second on the foreclosure list as for vacant homes here in this city, several homes are probably vacant in the communities that you mention in your article. We do not need to keep up with the Jones by building a mid- town Atlantic Station in the place of Fort McPherson…We don’t need another Camp Creek Market Place… We need to support our local police department and keep the criminals they look up in jail… Furloughs for city police officers are quietly coming.

Fort McPherson Military Army Base closing in 2011 can benefit the entire county by becoming the New Fulton County’s thirty thousand bed space holding / detention and correctional facility at no purchasing cost to you the tax paying citizen of Fulton County.

Chicken clueless, think about how many citizens are murders, assaulted, burglarized and or robbed here in Atlanta. Chicken clueless you probably care less about your neighbor and more about the golf course that’s on Fort McPherson or are you a politician that will receive some type of kick-back from developers that will call on you to develop this land.

Chicken clueless, I Curtis Steven “JD” Farmer care more about Life, Liberty and the protection of citizens Property than building more homes and or businesses here in Fulton County. I care about my neighbor; I’m not driven by money nor greed…

Chicken clueless, think about the jobs that would be created for the citizens of your community… Clueless chicken drive around and look at all the vacant new loafs and condos…you are a very smart clueless chicken or is it Chicken clueless…

Thank you Mr. Henry for offering this forum to educate the voters about the Fulton County Sheriff's race. I am offering myself for service to the citizens of Fulton County because I feel that the county deserves better, and I believe I can bring about positive change.

As all of the candidates vying for the position would agree, the sheriff's office is in need of change. And, by change I mean "real change"... not change that brings about the same results...not change from within a broken system...not change from those who have had (key word "had") commendable careers in law enforcement whoh have since retired.

I bring with me 20 years of jail management, corrections administration and law enforcement experience. I am currently a Major at the City of Atlanta Jail, and in addition to my 20 years of experience, I am a P.O.S.T Certified Jailer and a P.O.S.T. Certified Mandated Peace Officer. I am participating in the University of Georgia Correctional Leadership Institute, and I have a Bachelors Degree from Clark Atlanta University. I am a candidate for the Masters in Public Administration degree from Columbus State University. Best of all, there will be more to come because I am on "active duty" and still in the prime of my career.

What the voters get when they vote for me on Tuesday, July 15th is a FULL TIME sheriff. A sheriff who is energized and poised to move the Fulton County Sheriff's Office forward...not a sheriff who dodges the issues, but one who takes accountability and addresses them head on.

Let's get it right this time...Vote on July 15th and remember to "LOOK FOR LABAT"!!! I will make you proud.

~ Patrick "Pat" Labat

As stated by Patrick Labat, candidate for Fulton Sheriff, "the sheriff's office is in need of change. And, by change I mean "real change"... not change that brings about the same results..."

Patrick Labat is well connected with the current sheriff's "handlers". These handlers, who are part of the current Sheriff's administration have equally misguided Sheriff Freeman and all of them are a major part of the problems within the Sheriff's Office. They have undoubtley, contributed to the overall failure of the Sheriff's Office. I wish Sheriff Freeman could have reoognized this...that they really didn't have his best interests at heart. All of them are self-serving and care nothing about the Office or the men and women who work hard to carry out the day to day operations in the department...those who work hard to serve the community...those who work hard to maintain stability, credibility and the integrity of the Sheriff's Office. With that being said, can Mr. Labat really bring about "real change" without yielding the same results generated by the current administration?

I THINK NOT. His well connectedness with the failures (handlers) in the current administration will definitely compete with his ability to to bring about desperately needed change and results...and we will continue to face tough challenges getting out of the position we are in now. Fulton County deserves better. We demand better. Patrick Labat is defintely NOT the answer. Fulton County voters...vote wisely and vote for a candidate who has the citizens and communities best interest at heart. Vote for a candidate who will bring value to our tax dollars through the demonstation of results. Cronyism will get us nowhere and will stifle ability to move in a positive direction to bring about efficicient and effective results.

Dear "Code8",

If Labat had such close ties with Freeman's administration and "handlers", perhaps some would have listened when he reached out to provide assistance to the Sheriff after the March 11 tragedy. But, they did not. Instead, they chose to let Freeman "handle it", getting on television and embarrassing us all. In the end Pennington had to step to the forefront to address the matter publicly... Obviously being Sheriff doesn't require a Harvard degree...but is it too much to ask for someone to be able to put together 2 straight (not skraight) lines of English???

As you point out, Labat is in fact well-connected... In fact, he has fostered relationships within the Sheriff's office as well as within other local, state and federal agencies. All of which will serve him well in office - as it will take a collaborative effort to rebuild the sheriff's office. And, while he should seek input when necessary, as any effective leader would do, to assume that he would be influenced by Freeman's handler's - or anyone else for that matter - to the detriment of the Sheriff's office or the County, shows you don't know Patrick Labat. A vote for Labat is an intelligent, informed vote. Watch the debate on Sunday... WPBA at 11:45am.

Tell me... Has the Sheriff's Race become synonomus with Ringling Brothers??? Judging from the list of Bozos presented before us, somebody MUST have sent out an audition notice for clowns...

Ring 1: Introducing "The Retired Clown Quartet"...Brown, Osteen, Jackson and Rambo (a Quintet, if Shelton even counts). Can I ask one question? Why??? Save all that "I care" crap for someone else... Yeah, you care alright - about collecting a paycheck on top of a pension check. Kinda smart on each of your parts, but can't you find something to do like most retirees that won't further ruin Fulton County??? Wal-Mart greeter, McDonald's...surely there is something else.

Ring 2: Introducing "Special Ed the Clown" a.k.a. Ronald Brandy... something just isn't clicking there. Just watch the debate on Sunday. Poor guy, he is trying to get the right words out... Is he related to Myron?

Ring 3: Introducing "The Prennial Mortuary Clown". The funeral director - turned law enforcement agent - 3rd (or 4th) time's a charm - candidate... Yup, Rambo... Interesting fact about Rambo. Sure explains a lot.

Ring 4: Introducing "Quack the Clown" Curtis Farmer, who wants to turn Ft. Mac into "Ft. Mac-Paddy Wac"... Blind men want to see...but how about trying this... shit in one hand and want in the other - see which one fills up first. Really? Ft. Mac - a jail. Really???

Ring 5: "Cocky the Clown": Labat... Can you talk the talk AND walk the walk???

Ring 6: This ring is empty... "Shelton the Disappearing Clown" was no where to be found.

My money is on a run-off...

Labat (cuz people are impressed by his knowledge and well-spoken demeanor)

Jackson (cuz people seem to really think 32 years with the FBI means something)

Either would be a HUGE improvement, but which two clowns make it to the center ring is really anyone's guess...

Yes, Patrick Labat is well connected. He managed to set a Marrietta police officer up for a term in prison. He was having an affair with his wife who worked for GBI. He along with Alanta Internal affairs coached her in how to set him up and then went to a judge in Douglas county Georgia ( David Emmerson), Got warrants for threats, kiddnapping, agravated assault and domestic violence. He went to prison for 18 months, Patrick Labat got his wife, stayed with his own wife and destroyed his life and hers. This man is another Dorsey. I guest the worst of it all was that he was a police officer with the Marietta Police department. This young man had promise in becoming a trusted leader and possiblly would have been suited the the officer of sherriff in Fulton count Georgia. If you need to verify this information, check the records in Paulding county Georgia, Douglas county Georgia and with the officials of the Marietta police Department. This was not his first time part-taking in such activities which resulted in the destruction of a family. I attended the trail of this young man and was floored with the lies and the testmony of wittnesses that pactrick Labat recruited. The wittnesses were employees that worked under his command at the Atlanta city jail. Ask yourself this question, " Is this the type of person that you want to lead the fulton county sherriff Department. His pattern of behavior is the same behavior that took Dorsey of Dekalb county to a sentence of Life plus ten years of incarceration. By the way Patrick Labat, He is doing very well now and you only dammed yourself. Remember this phrase, " There will come a time when the first shall be last and the last shall be first." You destroyed a man with promise for his wife. God will show you this again went it is time to pay for your misdeeds. God bless you!

You gotta love Shirley Franklin calling this a "publicity stunt."
