Below are excerpts from a letter sent to the U.S. Department of Justice, a copy of which also was delivered to the Atlanta Police Department. In the letter, Alvin Xex claims that on March 12, the day after Atlanta police first showed up at his west side apartment looking for accused courthouse killer Brian Nichols, officers returned a second time. An Atlanta police spokeswoman confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
"Atlanta police -- body-armored, guns drawn -- returned, ostensibly searching for fugitive Brian Nichols. Again, the police knocked on my door loudly, asked about my knowledge of Brian Nichols, and demanded entry without a warrant."
"[O]fficers stated, 'You're holding us up,' 'Don't you want to help catch a killer,' 'If we come back (with warrant), we'll kick the door down,' 'Any contraband, you're going to jail,' and mocking my demand to adhere to Constitutional provisions, while not allowing me -- in house clothing, in cold AM weather -- to reenter my apartment."
"After about 25 minutes of suffering the chilly weather and harassment, I relented under pressure, and allowed a search of my personal property. The officers entered quickly behind me with guns drawn, and the cursory search did not reveal a killer or any illegality."
