Music: Lay Down Mains

Thurs., Oct. 2
Published 10.01.08

LAY DOWN MAINS play hard, fast, loud punk-rock jams that strike with precision and melodies that evoke a much angrier era of indie rock from the '90s. Made up of local punk and hardcore veterans Rick Moore (vocals, guitar), David Lane (bass guitar) and Lee Corum (drum), the trio served its respective time in the trenches, honing its caustic chops and fleshing out a pure and abrasive aural grind. On Thurs., OCT. 2, the group demonstrates the power of its corrosive musical chemistry and experience with the CD-release party for Mama, Go Rest on High. Heavy-handed locals Brass Castle, Hawks, 40 Hells and Chopper also perform. Free. 9 p.m. The Star Bar, 437 Moreland Ave. 404-681-9018. www.starbaratlanta.com.
