The Beehive Design Collective, an international cadre that aims to cross-pollinate social change, takes a fine-toothed comb to colonialism in South America's Andean region. Its resulting graphics campaign, Plan Colombia, unfurls the hair ball of modern-day colonialism – what Beehive deems "corporate monoculture on a global scale" – in storybook fashion with neatly illustrated, stark graphics corroborated via entomology: Multinational corporations are represented by resource-extraction mosquitoes that parasitically siphon off Amazonian resources, while consumer larva represent the capitalist values that are spoon-fed to North American youth. The Beehive Collective joins local poets/activists and mother-daughter combo Alice Lovelace and Theresa Davis, as well as music acts such as Atlanta Sedition Orchestra and Hope for Agoldensummer, for CONCERT TO CLOSE THE SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS Thurs., NOV. 20. Proceeds benefit the School of the Americas Watch. $5-$25. Beehive Collective, 6:30 p.m.; concert, 7 p.m. Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery, 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Suite 8. www.soaw.org.
