TODAY’S CREATIVE LOVING PROFILE
Like many sculptors, artist Mario Petrirena has had a long-standing love affair with the human body. Many of his small clay works in recent years have featured profusions of hands and faces rendered at a Lilliputian scale. Continuing Wed., NOV. 26, however, Petrirena takes a detour from the human form in THE LANGUAGE OF BROWN: CERAMIC SCULPTURES at Sandler Hudson Gallery. In this rooftop exhibition, Petrirena takes inspiration from the whimsical geometries of Dr. Seuss and the odd imbalances of natural forms, presenting a series of wood-fired cones that wriggle skyward in a hypnotic frozen dance. Channel your inner Cat in the Hat before the show closes Nov. 29. Free. Tues.-Fri., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sat., noon-5 p.m. 1009-A Marietta St. 404-817-3300. www.sandlerhudson.com.
