LARKIN GRIMM is the latest addition to former Swans vocalist Michael Gira's stable of artists to flourish on Young God Records. Grimm hails from the North Georgia mountains, and her songs take shape as ominous and womanly Appalachian songwriter fare that communes with the dark and mystical qualities of the rural landscape. Danger lies just below the surface of every strum, every bout with repeating rhythms and subtly menacing words that unfold so effortlessly, that the truly disturbing tone of it all doesn't sink in until long after the song is over.
