Kristina Solomoukha's "Mind the Gap – Fountain" was a centerpiece of Le Flash, last October's one-night celebration of light and art in Castleberry Hill. On Thurs., JAN. 15, the Welch School Gallery at Georgia State University presents a discussion of the French artist's infamous pickup-truck-cum-public-fountain in PUBLIC ART FOR BEGINNERS: INTRODUCING ATLANTA'S NEW PUBLIC ARTISTS. The student team that managed the piece, each of whom is an artist in his or her own right, will be on hand to dissect the trend of the "anti-monument" in recent public art. This discussion is part of New Wave Atlanta: When Urban Intervention Speaks French, an exhibit bringing public art from across the pond that does so much more than just sit there looking pretty. Vive la révolution! Discussion: Free. 3-5 p.m. Exhibit: Through Feb. 26. Free. Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat., noon-4 p.m. 10 Peachtree Center Ave. 404-413-5221. www.gsu.edu/art.
