Gold From extraordinary geological specimens to stunning cultural objects, Gold explores the historical fascination with this enduring symbol of wealth, beauty, and power. Through Jan. 3, 2010. $15.
First Georgians An exhibit on the earlier inhabitants of Georgia featuring a 17-foot-long dugout canoe dating back more than 300 years. Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Free-$15.

Sunday Snow Days The program, in conjunction with the current exhibits Ends of the Earth and Penguins of the Antarctic, features free samples of cold treats, special activities for children and screenings of popular polar-themed film. Each child will receive a free 2-foot inflatable penguin with purchase. Second Sunday of every month, 12-3 p.m. Free with museum admission.
