Ten fifth-grade students from the Study Hall -- an afterschool program in Peoplestown -- were sent on a mission. Their task, set by CL staff photographer Rebecca Beard, was to document their families, their friends and their neighborhood, which is just south of Turner Field.

After a brief lesson in photography, the students were given cameras and told simply to open their eyes to what was around them -- and shoot. Their innocence let them work without confrontation. Their familiarity with their surroundings provide us with an intimate look at an inner-city neighborhood.
