For the past 17 years, Frank Reiss' bookstore, A Cappella Books, has been a welcome resource for independent-minded book lovers.

2. The war in Iraq: "This unprovoked, unnecessary action, which has cost so many lives and so many billions of dollars, leads me to think about little else these days."
3. Short books: "Today's lifestyles don't lend themselves to enough time to read, and since I depend on people continuing to buy books for my livelihood, I actively promote books like the 'Open Media' series from Seven Stories Press and the '33 1/3' series from Continuum."
4. WRFG Radio (89.3 FM): "Especially with the -- temporary, I hope -- local absence of Air America Radio, we need this progressive voice on the airwaves now more than ever."

Paletas -- Latino-style popsicles: "Ever since moving from San Francisco almost 20 years ago, I have longed for these delicacies made with fresh, tropical fruit, so much so that I cut a hole in the wall of my bookstore to open up into a new shop -- Xocolatl -- trying to match their deliciousness."
