The use of white phosphorous in Gaza
Published 02.04.09

It is with great disappointment that we read "What is white phosphorous and is Israel using it in Gaza?" (Don't Panic, Jan. 21).

[CL columnist Andisheh Nouraee] stated that Palestinians in Gaza were victims of white phosphorous used intentionally by Israel in Gaza, while completely ignoring all evidence to the contrary.

The International Red Cross on Jan. 13, 2009, concluded that there was absolutely NO evidence to suggest Israel used white phosphorus illegally, improperly or in a fashion which knowingly put civilians at risk.

Why does the author fail to cite any of the multiple reports that support Israel's side?

Why does the author fail to mention the terror Hamas wreaks daily on Israelis and Palestinians – a terror that is far more of an outrage than any unproven illegal or improper use of white phosphorous?

We are saddened by the tragedies that have befallen both sides during this latest conflict. We are thankful for the current cease-fire and hope for a long-lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Editor's note: Andisheh Nouraee stands by the accuracy of his column, which is supported by a story published Jan. 24 in the Times of London. The Times article states: "After weeks of denying that it used white phosphorus in the heavily populated Gaza Strip, Israel finally admitted yesterday that the weapon was deployed in its offensive."

To Editor:

Something very exciting and positive to write about regarding car body repair! FASTTRAK, Alpharetta.

After my elderly Mother totaled her car a few years ago, this was the nightmare of her life. Her car was towed to a “major collision center” (Alpharetta Collision Center) where is sat for 2 months. There was NO phone communication to be able to check on the status of her car (which she needed) and the folks were just rude.

HOW CAN YOU BE RUDE WHEN YOU ARE GETTING PAID $8,000.00????

Last week, I unfortunately was in the same situation with Mom’s car (bless its heart) and decided to try a recommended auto repair shop, FASTTRAK in Alpharetta. Charles at Peach State Classics highly recommended them, so I felt very comfortable at this point.

Low and behold, I had not one, but TWO representatives from FASTTRAK at my home within one hour. They checked the car over thoroughly and were completely honest, delightful and professional.

Within another hour, a complete estimate was faxed (broken down step and piece by piece) to me for my perusal). I approved the work and within ONE WEEK…….the car was ready and they delivered the beloved Buick back to our home. 

I have never enjoyed an unfortunate experience as much as I have with FASTTRAK because dealing with these fine and caring people makes you feel so at ease and comfort.

Their shop is impeccably clean, organized and easy to find off of Maxwell Road in Alpharetta.

Please at least take the time to phone and interview them as this is a RARE blessing in this day and time we all live in now. No jerking you around, no putting you off and they stand behind their work....which is the highest quality!
