Nashville's psychedelic-rock foursome the FEATURES craft a cool and intricate body of Southern indie-song fare. Imagine, if you will, the happy indie-pop song stylings of the Shins wrapped in a shroud of dense and colorful textures that invoke everyone from My Morning Jacket to Olivia Tremor Control. The group embraces a baroque and highly stylized rock sound that ebbs and flows between booming swells of gospel pop tones and bouncing rock anthems. The show on Sat., AUG. 30, is a CD release party for the group's latest, self-released full-length, Some Kind of Salvation. Local acts the Long Shadows and the Redcoats also perform. $8-$10. 9 p.m. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Road. 404-522-3950. www.badearl.com.
