Canadian turntablist teams up with 'Her' production designer for a night of puppet love
Eric San, aka Kid Koala, first established himself in the late '90s as a trailblazer for a new generation of turntablists. Over the years, the Canadian producer's creative talents have colored outside the lines of just music. When he's not creating new Kid Koala work, serving in alternative hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030 (alongside Dan the Automator and Del the Funky Homosapien), collaborating with video game designers and filmmakers, San writes graphic novels. Now, he's teamed up with production designer K.K. Barrett (Her, Marie Antoinette, Being John Malkovich) to bring to life his first book, Nufonia Must Fall, using an intricately choreographed array of puppets, and scored live by Kid Koala (on turntables and synthesizers) and the Afiara Quartet on piano and strings.
