Today is National Sacher Torte Day, the day we praise the Austrian chocolate layer cake that comes with a ploof of schlag (whipped cream) on the side. Pick one up at La Madeleine or Sandy Springs' Little European Bakery , or grab a slice after dinner at Ecco .

The Mourning Dove Caf̩ is now open in the Shops of Buckhead in the former Corso coffee spot. Andrea Kirshtein, former pastry chef at Empire State South is managing partner. Beyond her breads and desserts and Revelator's coffee program, we look forward to their forthcoming cocktail program, directed by Shanna Mayo.

Henri's Bakery and Caf̩ opens its Upper Westside location today, Tues., Dec. 5, at 2310 Coronet Way. To celebrate the grand opening, they are throwing a holiday party on Sat, Dec. 9. The family friendly event with bakery samples, face painting, and friend from the North Pole is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A new executive chef has been lured to Lure . Michael Manley, former executive sous at Cakes and Ale, joined Fifth Group Restaurants in 2014. "Seafood has always been a passion of mine, so I couldn't be more thrilled for the opportunity to dive in further at Lure," he said in a release. Mark Jan. 17-28 on the calendar for Manley's first Lobster Week at the Midtown spot.

There's a new place to grab a Cuban sandwich, yucca fries, or mojo grilled chicken downtown. Beni's Cubano is now open at the Hub at Peachtree Center.

No more waiting in line. Krog Street Market's Bar Mercado is now accepting reservations. Book a table through Reserve app at the Castellucci-owned tapas hotspot that opened back in September.

Bring home the down home Southern comfort of Revival this season. Chef Kevin Gillespie and chef de cuisine Nicole Edwards have a menu of smoked hams that feed 10, Southern sides like granny's pole beans, pies, and cakes from the Decatur restaurant. Email Nicole@revivaldecatur.com by Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. to place your order.

Midtown's Bulla Gastropub (60 11th St. NE) now offers brunch and it has a neat twist. Select three items from a three-course tasting menu made up of contemporary takes on shareable Spanish plates. You can also order a la carte, but wouldn't it be fun to pig out on blueberry ricotta pancakes, Bulla Benedict, and churros con chocolate?

Ray's Restaurants is offering specially priced selections from Caymus Vineyards out of Rutherford, California. You can sip Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon or Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay by the glass at Ray's in the City, Ray's on the River, and Ray's at Killer Creek. Special bottle pricing too!
