There is tension in the beer world as a collaboration between Scofflaw Brewing Company and BrewDog quickly came to a halt this week. The UK brewery canceled scheduled events with Scofflaw beer after a press release from the “self-confessed trailer trash brewery” stated it would give free beer but only to Trump supporters. BrewDog responded on Twitter with “We are in no way aligned with their position and we will of course be canceling all the events and send all of the beer back. We care about beer and people. Not hate.”

Bonus: Cole Younger Just and Layla Walk helm the cocktail program. Dinner is served Tues.-Sun.

You’ll have to get your cafeteria fix in Augusta or Macon from now on. The last S&S Cafeteria in Atlanta is closing. WSB’s Sophia Choi posted on Twitter a sign noting closure this Sun., Sept. 30. The location at 2002 Campbellton Road has been open since 1968.

SweetWater Brewery’s taproom will be closed beginning October 1 for some exciting renovations, including a new bar, a catering kitchen (with a bar menu!), and roll-up door which will create communal indoor/outdoor seating areas. The Taproom is expected to open in Jan. During construction the brewery will still be open for tours and tastings normal hours and fun stuff like live music and the bar area will be held on the patio tent.

Mark your calendars for Les Dame’s d’ Escoffier Atlanta Chapter’s 18th annual Afternoon in the Country. On Sun., Nov. 4 some of Atlanta’s best restaurants pair with farms for tastings, alongside fine wine, beer, silent auction, and a cake raffle featuring desserts from Atlanta’s best pastry chefs.

Gesondheid! (That’s “cheers” in Afrikaans.) The first South African restaurant in the United States opened its doors in Atlanta in 1998.
