THE STRAY CATS - US TOUR

CRITIC’S PICK
Fri., Nov. 27

The Stray Cats, Fox Theatre — This reunion tour, initially booked for last year, was delayed due to guitarist/singer Brian Setzer’s multiple health issues (he only refers to them as a “serious illness”). They hit the road with a catalog of spikey, cool, punky, rockabilly-inspired roots rocking that hasn’t grown much since their various breakups and reformations over the decades. Still, a new single released last year, “Stampede/Teenage Heaven,” sounds great, and clearly they have not lost that raw intensity and frantic showmanship that put them on the map in the mid-‘80s. It’s hard to know how serious Setzer’s medical issues are but, if you’ve been a fan, this may be one of the last chances you’ll get to see the original trio blowing through those Stray-Cat-Strutting hits. — Hal Horowitz
